Juvenile Court and Child Advocate Volunteers Honored

The DeKalb County Juvenile Court and the Child Advocate Network, Inc., honored more than 400 volunteers at the Annual Volunteer Ceremony in September. The featured guest speaker was Emmy award-winning co-anchor for FOX 5 News Amanda Davis. Ms. Davis was honored for her tireless work and commitment to youth in Wednesday’s Child, a FOX 5 weekly series profiling foster care children who are available for adoption and in need of permanent homes in Georgia.

DeKalb Chief ADA Wins National Award for Successful Prosecution of Capital Murder Case
Don Geary, one of DeKalb County’s chief assistant district attorneys, has won a national award from a group of government lawyers for winning a conviction and death sentence for an unusually abhorrent murder. Geary received the Outstanding Advocacy Award in Capital Litigation from the Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation (AGACL) on July 31. AGACL provides resource and research support to district attorneys who are handling capital punishment cases and their appeals.
