Electronic Filing Procedures from the State Court of DeKalb County

Thursday, April 6th, 2017

From the State Court of DeKalb County, State of Georgia:

We need the help and cooperation of the DeKalb Bar Association in making our court records accurate and understandable.

When you e-file, your labeling of the documents carries over into the docket – electronic filing has in some respects outsourced the creation of the court’s record to the filing parties. The mislabeling of electronically filed pleadings creates inefficiency and inaccuracy related to the court’s record. The standing order presented below is an attempt to address that situation.

DeKalb Bar Holiday Party Recap

Monday, January 9th, 2017

The 2016 DeKalb Bar Association Holiday Party was held in December, once again at the Solarium at historic Scottish Rite in Decatur’s Oakhurst Village. Thanks to our generous sponsors, delicious food and the fellowship of DBA members and friends, a wonderful time was enjoyed by all. Our charity again this year was the Samuel L. Jones Boys and Girls Club and the Pajama Program, which delivers warm sleepwear and age-appropriate books to children in need. The ample contributions from our attendees helped local children have a great holiday. Thanks to all who attended the party and gave so generously.

Enjoy these scenes from the evening:

Same-sex legally married couples are now treated exactly the same as opposite-sex married couples for federal income tax purposes. Married = married. This is mostly good news for same-sex couples but there are still some transition issues and a few disadvantages, as there always have been with being married. (more…)
