YLD Invites You to: Black Tie & Blackjack – January 9

The Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia will hold its annual signature fundraiser gala, Black Tie & Blackjack, on Jan. 9, 8 p.m.-midnight. This year’s event will benefit the YLD’s new Public Interest Internship Program (“PIIP”), which helps to support a variety of public interest legal organizations by raising money to provide scholarships for  individuals to work with those organizations and help our community through their public interest work.

PIIP will match selected law school students and recent law school graduates with pre-selected public interest, government and nonprofit organizations across the state of Georgia, all of whom are serving a greater pool of community needs with fewer resources. PIIP was recently featured on the front page of the Fulton County Daily Report. A copy of the article can be found at  www.dailyreportonline.com. (Note: subscription required to access this website.)

Tickets are available for purchase online at  www.gabar.org or by contacting Mary McAfee, YLD director, MaryM@gabar.org. Discounted tickets are available for government attorneys, attorneys working for public interest organizations and attorneys currently transitioning between career opportunities. A portion of each ticket is tax deductible.

Black Tie & Blackjack will be held at the offices of King & Spalding, 1180 Peachtree St., Atlanta, Georgia, 30309, in conjunction with this year’s Mid-Year meeting. If you are interested in sponsoring this event, or for more information, please contact Mary McAfee at  MaryM@gabar.org or 404-527-8778.
