Education and Leadership Day

Dec. 5, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Old Courthouse on the Square. 101 E. Court Square. The DeKalb Bar Association welcomes you to the 2009 Education and Leadership Day. Inspirational speakers will discuss the importance of education and leadership for all ages. Guests will then break into groups where professionals from various industries will be on hand to help outline plans for success and answer questions. There will be music and entertainment as well. The event is supported by the DeKalb Bar Association, the DeKalb County District Attorney and Solicitor-General, the DeKalb County Police and Fire Department, the Boys and Girls Clubs of DeKalb, and the University of Phoenix. The event is free and open to all members of the public thanks to our sponsor, the DeKalb History Center.

Speakers/Topics:

  • Director of Public Safety – no matter how much you’ve achieved, keep striving for more; adult education
  • Chief Assistant Solicitor-General – girls can do anything and everything
  • Detective in the Gang Unit – stay in school and away from gangs; gang education
  • Attorney at Law – how kids end up in the juvenile justice system; scared straight
  • Assistant District Attorney – keep dreaming and achieving; no dream is out of reach for anyone
  • Attorney at Law – be a leader and mentor in your community
  • University of Phoenix Representative – leadership and education.

DeKalb Bar Holiday Party

Dec. 10, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Michael David’s at Magnolia Cottage and Gardens. 5459 E. Mountain St., Stone Mountain, GA 30083. Cost: $30 for members in advance or $40 at the door. Members are allowed to bring one nonmember at the member rate. Nonmembers are $45. Invitations were mailed and RSVP cards are due via mail by Thursday, Dec. 3.

We will sponsor the Boys and Girls Clubs of DeKalb. We ask that all attendees bring an unwrapped gift to ensure these children have a wonderful holiday season.
