More About Stacey Evans

Elected to the State House of Representatives in 2010, Stacey Godfrey Evans represents parts of Smyrna and Marietta. She practices law through S.G. Evans Law, LLC where she represents individuals and businesses in complex litigation. She began her legal career with Powell Goldstein Frazer & Murphy LLP, which later became Bryan Cave LLP. She also partnered with Lin Wood in a litigation boutique (Wood, Hernacki & Evans, LLC) for several years. She remains co-counsel with Mr. Wood on several significant litigation matters.

A life-long Georgian, she is originally from Ringgold and was the first person in her family to graduate from college. A proud “double dawg,” she earned her undergraduate degree in economics and political science and her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Georgia.

Stacey has authored and passed notable legislation, in a bi-partisan fashion, to restore cuts to the HOPE Grant program, which has re-opened the door to higher education for thousands of Georgians.

Stacey is active in the community. She is Chair of the Board of Directors for the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation and serves on the boards of Communities in Schools of Marietta/Cobb County and the Cobb Library Foundation. She is also a member of the Kennesaw State University Political Science Department Advisory Board. And she is a former chair of the Georgia High School Mock Trial program, which she credits for leading her to law school.

Stacey met her husband, Andrew, in law school and they were married in 2004. Andrew is a litigator as well. They live in Smyrna with their young daughter, Ashley (born in the middle of Stacey’s second legislative session!), and a mutt dog, Dexter.
