The November 3 breakfast Meeting of the DeKalb Bar Association’s Family Law Section featured both a salute to veterans and valuable advice from tax experts. Section Chair Alice Limehouse recognized the veterans in attendance. She gave a special thank you to section member and U.S. Army Reservist Steve Shewmaker, who is scheduled for deployment next year.

Cary King, chair of the Georgia Bar Military/Veterans Law Section, described the programs of the section. Its work includes staffing five pro bono legal clinics for veterans and service members. Mr. King noted that anyone interested in volunteering at one of these clinics should call 404-527-8765. For information regarding referrals to the program, call 404-728-7728.

The primary program featured extensive information regarding how to review tax returns and flag the types of issues that often arise in family law litigation. Presenters were Beth Garrett of Frazier and Deeter, LLC; Lynn Pasqualetti of HLM Financial Group; and Dan Branch of IAG Forensics & Valuation.
