Bar Luncheon Jan. 20:
Attorney and Local Legislator to Speak

Mike Jacobs, a litigator at Hall Booth, Smith & Slover, P.C., and member of the Georgia House of Representatives, will be our speaker at the upcoming Bar lunch. Mike received his bachelor of arts degree from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., with a double major in American government and psychology, and his law degree (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Georgia where he served as Executive Articles editor of the Georgia Law Review.

At HBSS Mike helped found the firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditor’s Rights practice group. He has handled numerous disputes in the fields of bankruptcy, collections, contracts, real estate, business torts, corporate governance, and non-medical professional liability. Prior to joining HBSS, Mike was an associate in the bankruptcy group of Alston and Bird, and also practiced at Krevolin and Horst.

Mike is a member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 80 in northern DeKalb County. He was first elected to the Georgia General Assembly in 2004 and serves on the Insurance, Judiciary MARTA Oversight, and Rules committees of the House. He is the vice chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and chairs one of its two subcommittees.

In 2005 Mike was selected by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of Metro Atlanta’s “40 Under 40” Up and Comers. He serves on the board of directors of the Anti-Defamation League Southeast Region and the executive committee of the DeKalb Republican Party. Mike is a member of the DeKalb Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Federalist Society, and the Republican Jewish Coalition.
