April Luncheon Preview: U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates to Speak at April DeKalb Bar Luncheon

The April DeKalb Bar luncheon will be Thursday, April 21. Our speaker will be none other than Sally Quillian Yates, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. Ms. Yates was appointed by President Barak Obama and then confirmed by the U.S. Senate March 10, 2010.

Prior to becoming the U.S. Attorney for our area, Ms. Yates served as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for seven years. She was chief of the Fraud and Public Corruption Section of the office from 1994 until 2002 where she supervised the prosecution of the office’s white collar crime matters.

Ms. Yates has been with the U.S. Attorney’s office since 1989 and has handled a wide variety of complex public corruption and fraud matters. She was the lead prosecutor in the City of Atlanta corruption prosecutions and the Atlanta prosecution of the Olympic bomber Eric Rudolph.

She is a member of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee and a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Ms. Yates practiced at King & Spalding in the commercial litigation area. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1986.
