Meet Four Candidates for the DBA Board of Directors

DBA members Tracy Lettsome, Annie Caiola, Mark Carter and Chadwick Walker, have announced themselves as candidates for the DBA Board of Directors. Each has provided a profile so that you may get to know them better.

Tracy Lettsome

My name is Tracy Lettsome and I would like to serve on the Board of the DeKalb Bar Association. I have been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 1995 and a member of the DeKalb Bar since 2001. I have been at my current firm Lipshutz Greenblatt LLC for more than seven years. Prior to joining Lipshutz Greenblatt LLC, I worked as the child support solicitor in Fulton County.

I have enjoyed being a member of the DeKalb Bar the last few years. During this time I have participated with the Law Day essay competition, and attended several CLE programs. In addition, I truly enjoy the fellowship among the members and guests at the various events in and around DeKalb County. As a member, I have seen the growth and development of the DeKalb Bar’s programs and community involvement. By joining the Board, I hope to add to these endeavors.

Annie Caiola

I am Annie Caiola, and I am running for a position on the DeKalb Bar Association Board of Directors. I received my B.A. and J.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 2002 and 2005, respectively. For the past five years I have been practicing at Troutman Sanders LLP where I focus on real estate and banking litigation, including landlord/tenant disputes and participation litigation. I also litigate estate disputes involving claims of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.

I live in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Decatur with my husband, Greg, and our 2-year-old daughter, Abby, who is a student at the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center. We can usually be found at St. Thomas More Church on Sunday mornings and the Brickstore Pub on Friday evenings.

As an active member of the Decatur/DeKalb community, I am always looking for ways to fuse my passion for law with my commitment to community. I have been described as the kind of volunteer who arrives early, stays late, and who people enjoy working with. As a member of the Board, I will work to provide meaningful networking opportunities for members and enhance professional relationships across the public and private sectors. I will work with all the DBA committees to plan and develop our social, educational, and outreach events.

Mark Carter

My name is Mark Carter and I would like to serve on the Board of the DeKalb Bar Association. Since graduating from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2003 I have practiced almost exclusively in the area of Government and Construction contracts. I began my legal career at Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy LLP (now Bryan Cave LLP). I have been at my current firm, Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP, for nearly three years. I am a former board member of the Design Build Institute of America. In 2005 I was a fellow in the Decatur office of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. I live with my wife and daughter in Decatur.

I have been a member of the DeKalb Bar for a little over a year. I have truly enjoyed my time as a member. I have practiced in many state, federal, and appellate courts around the United States and can tell you that the quality of judges and attorneys in DeKalb County are second to none. In my short time as a member I have been impressed with the quality of programs, community involvement, and membership. If given the opportunity to serve, I would work to maintain and enhance the high standards set by those who have already served the DeKalb Bar.

Chadwick Walker

I am a sole practitioner in downtown Decatur handling mostly plaintiff personal injury claims with a portion of my practice devoted to misdemeanor criminal defense and small business matters. In 2003, I graduated from New England School of Law (Boston, Mass.) and was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2004. I worked briefly for a small general practice, then had the privilege of working for Tommy and Adam Malone at the Malone Law Office from January 2005 until May 2010. During my time at the Malone firm, I handled plaintiffs’ medical malpractice, road wreck, aviation crash, and probate cases.

My participation in the Bar and community includes GA Bar YLD’s Leadership Academy 2009 graduate, Leadership Sandy Springs, Class of 2010 graduate, and my current position as secretary of the Sandy Springs Bar Association with prior service on its board.

Decatur has been my home for over two years, and I am excited to have recently located my practice here. I enjoy my membership in the DeKalb Bar and love interacting with its diverse and wonderful membership. It would be a great honor to serve on the board. I promise to do my best should you allow me to serve!
